The principles that guide my work

  • Organizations are complex, living systems that change constantly based on choices made at all levels and times in response to their conditions and concerns. It’s more effective to think in terms of organizational direction than organizational destination. To shift the direction, shift the conversations.
  • Leadership is an innate human capacity exercised in relation to how one interprets and responds to circumstances, rather than a skillset acquired through some external source.
  • It’s most often the background issues — identity, relationship, dialogue and communication, as well as how groups are convened and led — that provide the greatest access creating something new.
  • Coaching and consulting engagements should be designed to build more independence rather than more dependence.
